Getting Golf Fit - Fix Your Body to Fix Your Swing
Have you ever wondered why, after taking multiple golf lessons, that you still aren’t able attain certain required positions in your golf swing? Or why your swing sequence continues to be off? Or why you just can’t add those extra yards to your drives that you’d like? Well, perhaps it’s your body that’s not providing the structural support that you need for an efficient, repeatable, and powerful golf swing.
In this session we’ll be discussing biomechanics, the study of how forces exerted both internally (by the muscles) and externally (by gravity) affect the skeletal system, and how almost every part of the body needs to work together in sequence and in harmony to produce better results, longer distances, and reduced bodily injuries.
This session will be broken into 3 parts: In the first part we’ll discuss how the body moves in the golf swing. We’ll review the 10 positions of the golf swing, how to attain those positions, and how to sequence these positions properly to produce optimum results. Along the way, we’ll provide you with helpful tips and drills you can do on your own to help you achieve those same results yourself.
In the second part, we’ll discuss speed and provide you with a few exercises that you can do to increase your body speed and some tips and techniques on how to reset your neurological wiring to train your brain to swing faster.
Lastly, we’ll show you how to assess your own golf fitness and review some prescriptions you can use to address various physical issues you might need to fix. Visit my full Getting Golf Fit web page at https://www.xoomfitness.net/getting-golf-fit for a preview of some of the assessments and exercise prescriptions we’ll be discussing during this session.
This session is not for absolute beginning golfers. You should have a basic understanding of the golf swing, have played at least for a few months, and have basically a functional golf swing. You should bring a driver with a head cover, and have the driver head cover tightly secured with a shoe lace wrapped near the hosel so that the head cover won’t fly off when swung lightly. You’ll be doing some easy swings but won’t be hitting any golf balls. Wear tennis shoes and gym or golf clothing.
Attendance is limited to 25 maximum. Click the link below to sign up. You can register for yourself and one other person, for example, your spouse. Only one email address and phone number is needed to reserve one or both spots. If space is full, we’ll look into adding another session later in the season.
